I remember when I was a little girl my mom would have me go out where the zinnia's were planted and pluck all the dead flowers off and just crumble them right there in the flower bed. I would do the same with the marigolds. And the next spring there they were.

I also remember such flowers and seeds just use your fingertips to sort of till them in.

I think It is hard to do now because most of these flowers are hybrid now.

I could be wrong but it will not be the first nor the last! :/
