Aha! That's where the wood shop comes in. Lots of sawdust. Lots of wood chips broken down by the girls in the coop.
If you can add grass clippings (greens) to your sawdust (browns) you can speed up the composting and have a great pile of compost for next spring. Animal pooh will make everything work even better.
