When I am driving home I can see my sunflowers from a quarter mile away welcoming me back. I am always sad to see them go - but already looking forward to next years.

When the finches move in on the seed: I know it is time for the chickens to enjoy some of them, too.
I like bright flowers also. It's great to not have to slow to a stop, bend down, focus around the bifocals . . . to enjoy a bloom

They are all so beautiful- definitely one of my favorites! I have only grown the mammoths and the ones from Boss, that the birds plant! Think spring!

If we weren't so overloaded with wild sunflowers I could probably appreciate them more. Or maybe ones that are planted on purpose are nicer. But we have a PLUTHERA of wild ones and they get to be a good 15-20' tall!

It was so sad to see mine go too...
very happy to say I cut off the heads and they are happily dry and bagged waiting to be a cheap treat for the chickens through the winter to help with $$$ issues in those months.
Sunflowers are gorgeous, and a good investment.
