We are in the middle of a heatwave. After work I was doing some planting in front yard, when I heard squeal of car brakes, car door slamming and oh my god over and over. I was on my stomach planting thyme in walkway. Neighbor saw me flat out on walkway thought I had heat stroke. I was a little embarrass to explane why I was in that position.

It is nice to have neighbors who care enough to stop and check. It has been so hot out there by you that the neighbor's worry was understandable.

I still am a bit unsure as to why thyme is planted while in the serpent mode, but how did the planting go? I know you were not certain you could get the roots into tiny cracks of the pavers.

Nothing like a prostrate neighbor to get your adrenaline pumping. I hope your neighbor wasn't elderly.
Funny, though.

Not sure red I did a lot of tearing and shoving of roots. I know summer heat not best time, but sometimes you have to make due with what ever free time you have.

The summer heat should be just fine as long as you keep getting sufficient rainfall or water regularly. Good luck with the thyme. It should look very nice there and the smell when one walks on them is fantastic.

I know there are "best times" to plant some things but often the best time for me is when I can even if the book says it is not a good time.

It's good to have good neighbors. They have your back though occasionally you have conversation starters.

That's funny! One of those stories the neighbors will be telling at all the bar-b-ques.
I picked up some Elfin thyme to plant in my walkway too! I'm hoping to get it planted before I kill it by forgetting to water those little pots....like I did the last batch. :\
