We have had a couple of days of mild weather (5*Celsius by day & 1*C at night), but we have weather warnings for heavy falls of snow on Tuesday!

How are all of you doing????????????????? Have you finished up all the left-over turkey etc. I had wonderful ribs of beef that had been hung for nearly 4 weeks -- absolutely delicious. I calculated it well so I would have lots left over as I adore it cold. :love

We're in a mild spell right now, the 18" of snow is melting away a bit, thankfully that blizzard hit on a Saturday night, so most people were able to deal with it on Sunday (when they really wanted to be finishing up their Christmas shopping!), things were back to normal for the most part on Monday. That's here, though. Down south they just aren't equipped to deal with that kind of dumping, they don't have the equipment to move it efficiently, so I'm sure it took them many days to get dug out!

chilly out ..stagnant thick unhealthy air ...the sun is trying to come out ...I tried to talk my husband into doing some yard work ..I think the sunflower stalks would chip better frozen .. ...but he is shunning me and that idea :p
and he is right with the air quality the gas powered chipper is not exactly environmentally friendly

always a trade off!

I try to be green but I have to chop things up to make mulch and in order to do that I need to burn gas with either the chipper or using my lawn mower and running back and forth over stuff

we need a good strong wind to blow the polution away!

my husband is shunning any kind of yard work ...he is just too green to want to use any power tools or anything that would require the use of electricity or gas or physical power on his part at all .. ..so guess what we are doing? GOING BIRDING!!! so are we going to be walking?? ...oh no we are going to drive around (burning gas emitting fumes) and go look for birds.....

I am not going to say a word :throw

just going to order my onion sets first :)

Hi there! :frow
I'm in Minnesota. We've had a lot of snow. It's snowed every day for the past week. I have a small (5 foot high) snow wall built on both sides of my driveway.
The roads are pretty bad. I went to visit a friend in the country today and the road was very, very icy. Lots of packed thick ice and the wind was blowing finger drifts across the road. That was on the highway!
Lets just say, the gravel road was really, really bumpy with big drifts!

The temp has been nice though - I was shoveling without gloves on today and it was 20 F.
Tomorrow the temp is supposed to start dropping and Fri/Sat the high will be -4F .
That's not too bad!!
Last year the average high for Jan. was -15F, but we didn't have as much snow.

I like the snow AND cold. When it's just cold I start to dream about moving to a warmer place.

Tomorrow I'm going sledding with some friends! :weee

Keep warm everyone!

Hattie, THANKS! You're so sweet!! :hugs
We in the US just learn to live with the wild weather we have. In the Midwest, it's kinda like living just south of Siberia in the winter, sometimes. SOOOO, instead of driving places, we practice indoor sports, like....setting up indoor plant stations!!!!!! or....reading those books we haven't gotten around to. AND, it can be different just 2 hours away. For instance, DD's BF drove from Peoria to Cham-bana (Champaign/Urbana) Saturday, and his house had a foot of snow with more coming, while we just had a dusting. (See? 2 hours away, same storm.) The last storm that kept us home for 3 business days came in (conveniently) after 8 pm with PLENTY of warning. Almost everybody was stocked up on food and hardly anybody got stuck, only the fools who decided to make a beer run or the like!
We sat on our Adirondack chairs, in our unheated, enclosed front porch and watched the blizzard, while smoking cigars!

The Christmas storm was nasty here! Over 800 cars in ditches and over 400 crashes.
We traveled on both days, sure wish people would remember to slow down! :/ My family was all safe, but my little sis spent the day snowed in at home... :(

We got over a foot of snow on Thursday and we've had real cold temps lately, down near zero. It was such an odd sight on Christmas morning!
It was warm, 34 F ... a Robin was sitting on the deck and the backyard was full of Bluebirds! I have never seen these birds here in December.

Yep, ducks... we find a way to be happy and amuse ourselves in Winter!
DH just roasted a holiday marsh mellow peep on the fire ... do not do this! ... Yuck! ...
