Hoodat, I think you are lucky, too. And your lifestyle probably had a lot to do with your long good health. You were't heavy before; I bet the loss of 35 pounds left you looking pretty gaunt!
I just had my first operation on Wednesday. I'm 63, and never had an IV before either. Had babies back before they hooked gals up to all the IV's and monitors, etc.
I had my gallbladder taken out; now I read that I probably should have waited, gotten a second opinion, tried natural cures. I'm kinda bummed, one reason being that lots of people have unexplained weight gain after this surgery. And continued pain. And bowel issues.
My long-standing inclination remains: Stay away from doctors and hospitals! (Course I guess you didn't have much choice, Hoodat!)
