Gurney's SWEET HYBRID QUICKIE
As with other crops things are getting over ripe quickly. Picked these little beauties.
Had corn on the cob for dinner. Corn chowder tomorrow. I will unpack the frozen corn when the snow starts piling up.

Beautiful! I have frozen almost 20 dozen ears for the long winter. Not mine, a friend grows organic corn on her farm. I am not going to plant corn again- until she retires! Yours look wonderful, Cat- was it absolutely delish?

Darling little boys you have there, catjac. Those pics remind me of some my mom took of me and my siblings when we were so little and the garden seemed like a big, thick jungle to us. What are they doing in the first one? Looks like the older boy is feeding the little one an ear of corn or maybe trying to make him smile? :) Your corn looks so perfect and tasty, makes me want to drive over to OH right now and see if I can't buy some. I didn't grow any (or much of anything) at all this year.

The corn was starting to lose their sweetness that is why I picked and froze them. I did not even use any BT for corn borers and there were only a very few. They usually keep longer in the garden. I think everything is just ripening so fast. I have 2 more varieties coming later. I have carrots and sweet potatoes ready-they are usually ripe in October! Crazy year!I also have a 2nd crop coming that is only about 3 feet tall. Yes Aidan is trying to get his bro to smile. He likes to put his fingers in the corners of his mouth to get him to smile on cue. Very funny. And I bet the garden does seem like a jungle to them just as when you were a child. I have revisited "jungles" of my childhood to find tiny knolls where the mountain once was.

Cat, makes me wish I could grow corn. Those look very nice. Good thing you kept an eye on them and made the decision to pick them.
