I tried the origami folded paper pots and found them to be way too fussy. I just use the roll-and-tape method, with one refinement:

I use a piece of lumber sanded smooth as a mandril to wrap the newsprint. Mine is about 2" x 1.5" and was rescued from the scrap bin next to the saw. I sanded it really smooth so the paper slides off easily.

The square sided pots nest together better in the watering trays - which is why I used a rectangular mandril.... in case you were wondering.
