@Smart Red the poor were already fighting the battle. Even before the famous ride which is not accurate as he had over 40 helpers. The actual "ride" was done by a woman-Sybil Ludington.
The rich were not the "hard working" but the entitled rich-the King gave them their wealth along with slaves. They were more than happy to remain under King George if he would lower taxes and stop seizing their ships. In looking at documents, they didn't join until over year and a half-and facing poverty. The poor fought for liberty and justice for all-including the poor-a novel concept even today. The rich fought for $$$$$.
