I am a bit of a Hosta nut. I love the variety and I especially love my two big blue leaf Hostas. I have four or five different kinds but would love to expand my varieties. Do any of you have any spectacular Hosta to share pictures of?

Oh, I love hosta, too! I had some pretty ones that were just getting nice at our old house. Finally this year I was able to scrounge up enough money to plant a few here at our "new" house. So far so good, but I really can't wait until they get big! I planted Patriot and Guacamole. I'm hoping to find a nice big blue in the fall - I have just the corner for one!

I love your pic! What variety are your hosta?

Southern Gardener, thank you! I think they are beautiful too. My favorite by far.

Carol and Skeeter, I think it is "Blue Mammoth" if memory serves, but you can't always go by my memory! ;)

Chickie'sMomaInNH, boy it sounds like you have quite a collection. Would you be willing to post some pictures? I think that many people forget about Hostas. There are so many varieties and such a wide range of colors, shapes and sizes. My MIL gave me a piece a few years back off a Hosta that her mother had. It is bright green medium sized leaves and boy oh boy...the fragrance of the flower is spectacular! Have no idea what kind it is.

I look forward to seeing some pictures from anyone who would like to share! Blessings.

Hosta will be my project next year. We bought a very old house, which we are renovating. For the most part the gardens were done for. Along the length of the house are the biggest, most gigantic hosta I have ever seen!! This division is going to involve an ax for sure! Each plant is at least 6 feet in diameter! Anyone have any tips on the best way to do this??

Be sure to get some one to help. You may not need to dig up the entire clump. Just dig around the side and cut off sections. You will want a SPARP shovel to cut the divisions.

sure! i'll see what i can get for pics over the weekend! lots of my varieties i know their names even though i no longer have their tags (dh keeps taking the tags out with the lawn mower or weed whacker when he gets too close). i probably have over 30 varieties between my yard and my parents'! i have a couple i can divide up that are small to medium types that can tolerate sun. i find the best hostas are the ones shared with friends and family! i have 2 different types that originated from my grandparents down in MA.
