the last 2-3 years since i've lived in our house i have been getting them from a couple people selling on ebay. some i would gladly recommend are bentlygardens (i mentioned him before about selling 'liners'/starts on there and through his 2 websites. he sells larger, established plants too), gardenergardens (who i just got some plants from that are starting to bloom! his pics are what you will receive!), hostabargins has also nice plants and very good starting bid prices and specials around holidays! the plants in the pics are what you are bidding on so many are coming directly from the pots and being washed of any soil on the roots!

avoid some of the ones selling in peat pots. they don't seem to have as nice a root system established, sometimes the roots are dried out from the peat moss they use, or over watered and just not very healthy looking and may not establish themselves well enough to survive. they also shouldn't be sending the soil with the plant. many states it is illegal to send plants with the soil still on them. if they are sending plants it should be wrapped with moistened paper around the roots and plastic wrap or a plastic bag so it survives the few days it could take for them to arrive. it's all a gamble when you're trying someplace new to get plants from.

btw, hostabargains sends the tags with the plants if he has them!

Just wanted to put up a picture of my last hosta to flower. I have no idea what it is called, but it has a beautiful pure white flower and a lovely scent. It is just blooming now and looks really pretty next to my holly bush with red berries on it.

lesa, my MIL gave this hosta to me. It was part of a hosta that her mother has had for years. She said that it is the only hosta that has a scent. Now...some of my other hostas have a faint scent too, but this one smells really good.
