I love the cow panel greenhouse!! I just built a 12'x8' cow panel run onto my chicken coop and a cow panel fence in the backyard around my blueberry bushes 16'x7' to keep the dogs out and also to sneak in some more gardening room! I will have to look into a cowpanel greenhouse for next year!

I just took the plastic off my PVC redneck greenhouse yesterday and threw it out. It was 8 mils and originally purchased to patch the roof after hurricane Ike dropped a massive oak tree on the house. I saved the plastic, being the pack rat that I am, and used it twice all winter on the greenhouse. The wind shook it to splits and tears, was much patched by that much admired duct tape.

If I were to build the cow panel greenhouse, I would probably spring for the clear/smoke fiberglass R-type panels to cover it with. Maybe not.....still have a lot of plastic left on that roll........

Cow panel construction is easy, fast and inexpensive, especially if you collect lumber scraps and rejects like I do. Ya'll can feel sorry for DH he has a lot to put up with.

Thanks for posting this Steve :)
You're doing better than I am Thistle - dial-up at home.... I tried for 2 hrs to download and still can't even open it.
But if it looks like the chicken pen/tractors built from cattle panels, then I've got the idea. Any sort of a wall at the bottom or right on the ground?

Its just like the cattle panel tractors that people use for their meat birds. The bottom was open it was just a frame where the cattle panels attached to the frame. There was a door on the front and a small window built into the back for ventilation. The window was just framed out and another inner frame with plastic over it that made the window panel. That make sense?

He had a custom door built onto it but I would probably go look at Habitat For Humanity or see if I could recycle one one and get a screen door to put on it instead. It would be stronger and last longer.

Otherwise I think its a pretty solid set up and design.

If you couldn't watch the video and think you might be interested in the greenhouse anyway, there is a website to go to. The builder promises a PDF file drawing of the project at <HomesteadAdvisor.com>. Just a thought.

I figure I could make one just watching the video, but a drawing might be good.

. . . After 2 or so years of taping those holes, it's time to replace it.

A serious greenhouse is double walled, but the single walled units will surely extend the season on both sides of the year.
There were some holes the 1st time I put UV-resistant film on the greenhouse instead of the other stuff. I had the special tape I'd ordered with the film. That tape was what went first. I figured rather than order more tape, it was time to replace the whole thing. Only 1 hole the last time I covered it - got lots of tape left!

My temporary tunnel had double walls the 1st time I set it up. Tooooo much trouble for something that was only there for a few months. Besides, re-using the inside film was possible but NOT on the tunnel since it was "messed up" on the ends. The builder of the cattle panel greenhouse uses furring strips nailed to his door & window frames to better hold the film (over the staples). I use lathe.
