@Nyboy , Compare to House Finch Haemorhous mexicanus, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. We have them nesting in the wire vine on our fireplace chimney every year. We also used to get the Purple Finches (check that one out too), but haven't seen one of those for a number of years.

YES it is a house finch. Happily we have lots of them visit here.
