I will be old enough for SS in 2017 and I am signing up.

I will be too. I'll probably sign up as well, it won't be enough to do much with, but added to DH's SS, it will fill in the gaps.

It will sure help and I can still work part-time. My brother said he will start his at 66 because he still works full-time.

I just read in our morning newspaper that the obamacare insurance premiums WILL be increasing for next year. There will be about 100 less insurance providers as they will not participate as their costs are just too high. Premiums will rise for Washington residents on average of 13.1% . For us in Clark County , Washington ... Kaiser will have the premium rise by 10.4% while Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield will rise by 14.9% For those States using the Federal exchange it will rise by 25% . The rest of the States using their own markets ... some will have only one insurer to buy the health insurance from with premiums ranging up to 116% increase before government subsidies if you qualify. So , my wife and I will in effect have another PAY CUT of 10.4% for next year. Thank you bleeding hearts !

I haven't heard if or how much my gap insurance will go up. In any case, it is lower now that there is only me on the teacher's insurance plan.
