I dont think anything can kill a rose of sharon.

I did once but it took a few years. I'm not sure how I managed to kill it, it even made it through two summers with temps often hitting about 110 and severe drought (I did water). Bay may remember those summers. When the weather returned to normal it died. I replaced it with a knock-out rose which was still thriving when I moved away.

Hopefully everyone realizes I was only teasing about staying on topic. I'm as bad about hijacking as anyone.

When It cools down you and Carol One thing they break dormancy much later then other shrub dont think they die and rip them out. I dont think anything can kill a rose of sharon.
Except our 2017-2018 winter! Many locals lost theirs to the week of -20 degees F temperatures. Neither my big one nor DD's ROS died, BUT I had to prune out 1/2 of mine and 1/3 of DD's bc of dead wood.
