There is some kind of insect or critter that has been biting me for two or three weeks, and I can't figure out what it is. Driving me nuts. I don't see any fleas on Penny, or anywhere. I use the spot-on treatment for her.
I have checked the bed for bedbugs, nothing found.
I read that people don't really get body lice these days, unless they are homeless, perhaps, or never change their clothes or bedding.
The bites are anywhere on me; mostly on or near my trunk. Flea bites are generally on lower legs, I think. I don't believe it is the right time of year for chiggers, and they generally bite around waist bands or tight cuffs, etc.
These bites can be single, or groups of up to 5 together.
I get bit day or night, and they itch like flea or chigger bites. Each bite itches about 3 to 4 days, then fades away. They don't get as angry looking as chigger bites, and they don't get the whitish whelp that mosquitos give.
DH has a few bites, but his don't seem to bother him, not itching like mine do. I have about 6 to 8 actively itching all the time.
Any ideas?

Well, it doesn't appear to be like the examples of scabies mites, either. I'm sitting here itching in 4 places right now. 5 places. Geesh! Like your head itching the moment someone mentions head lice.

I had scabies my first year in elementary school ...

Okay, that was back in the Pleistocene, but it made an impression on me. Luckily, I didn't end up with scars on my hands :(.

Okay, some things I've learned: the "invasion" between the digitS', by far, isn't common. The rashes are common elsewhere on the body and don't really look like what the critters can do to a little boy's hands.

Secondly, it probably had nothing to do with us living on a farm - although that was the conversation I remember. It is a contagious condition and kids in elementary schools share ..!

I had thought about the flea bombs. I can do that next Wednesday when Penny is out of the house. No matter what kind of bug/mite it is, those should help.
The places where the bites aren't is important, perhaps: none on my head or lower arms and legs. Rules out head lice and fleas, I think.

So.... itching is only on areas covered in clothing??? Maybe a reaction to laundry products??

I had a flea in my bed a few years ago. I washed my sheets and still kept getting bites. I looked carefully and found the 1 flea. I think it survived my laundry.
