I didn't know what to cook last night so I went rummaging around. Beef shank? OK that's a start. Toss it in the crock pot with some chicken stock and onions. Not bad but kind of bland. How about a quart of tomatos I canned last year? OK, toss it in. Maybe add a bit of celery seed and black pepper. We're getting there but still not quite right. Rummage around in the spice drawer. Beat up old package of taco seasoning? Why not? HEY!!! That's darn good. I'll have to make that again.

That does sound good, Hoodie!

DD gave me a soup cookbook for my birthday. I'm not quite ready to move back into the winter soup/comfort food schedule because it is supposed to be spring! I'd like to capitalize that word: Spring!

Dear Daughter is down in your city right now and reporting Sunshine . . . and Seafood! She claims that she is there for work but I know that a trip to the zoo is scheduled .

Tell her not to miss the Wild Animal Park. Our zoo is great but that wild animal park is fabulous if you want to see animals in something close to a natural setting.

Well, that may be what she intends.

I haven't been to either but DD said something about "safari" . . .

I'm sure she's not continuing on to Africa!

Safari is what they call the little tram that makes it's slow rounds and covers most of the interesting things. I guess she is planning to go there.
I'm very partial to soup. It makes me feel full and at the same time helps me keep the weight down since it's largely water.

I love crockpot "whatever" night.... I through in a little of this, and a little of that... some left over this... and almost gone that....

Those are always our favorite meals here!

I wish I could talk my wife into doing that once in a while.

My MIL gets a bit upset when I cook a "what ever sounds good" meal. I love just tossing things together in the crock pot or as soup and seeing how it turns out. On the other hand, She refers to a recipe to make sure she measures each ingredient to perfection.

My English grandmother was one of the best cooks I know of and she never measured anything. My sister once wanted her recipe for Yorkshire pudding so she took whatever seemed like the right amounts of each ingredient and my sister measured them. that was the only time I ever knew her to make a bad meal. She couldn't cook if she had to think about how much of each thing. :/

. . .
Yes, she was at the wild animal park, 30 miles from the zoo.

She sent a picture of herself in the sunshine with the giraffes in the background. Then, there was a bird and a butterfly :). This was a business trip?

Now, she is on the plane for the cool of Seattle. But, she sure enjoyed San Diego! !
