This is my first year doing it. Its doing great with the cucumber seeds. I have another seedling ready to get planted tomorrow.

The corn is developing some kind of mold or something though, so I'm not going to pre-sprout anymore corn.

It's not reccommended that you pre sprout corn anyway.

For corn I was suggested to soak the seeds over night and then direct sow them. They need the nutrients from the soil pretty quickly for development.

Now that they are in the soil, they are taking off like rockets. They are about .5 inches tall right now and I have 3 sprouts. So how many ears of corn will a single stalk produce?

Most sweet corn will produce 2 ears per stalk but you need to plant more than 2 stalks. Corn is wind pollinated and needs to be planted at LEAST 2 rows of 6 or so and even that is pressing your luck. I'd do at least 6 rows of 6 plants.
Also corn doesn't really do well as transplants. It should be directly sown into the garden.

I did put some in the ground. The ones in the pot are just a trial.

An update on the garden. I now have 3 cucumber sprouts that are doing well. One is on its way to getting a second set of leaves. I have 2-3 carrot sprouts. All 4 corn sprouts in the pot are doing well. One is well over an inch tall already, probably approaching two inches. The corn in the ground has not sprouted yet. I think I put two rows of four in there. I'm going to put another couple of rows as soon as I see sprouts.

I also added cabbage to my garden. Four plants, all looking pretty healthy. They were planted in the ground next to the deck. Should I take any precautions against animals that would come and eat my plants? I also planted some radish seeds near the cabbage. Broccoli is next and I still have to plant my four tomato plants.
