Does anyone else anticipate with excitement regional plant sales?
Here are my favorites:
There are 3 plants sales each year that I mark many months ahead of time on my calendar. My poor son always has his birthday party scheduled around one of the dates so it doesn't conflict.
1. Long Beach City College Horticulture Department Plant Sale
2. Fullerton Arboretuem Monster Tomato and Pepper Sale
(Largest variety of tomatoes for sale in one place west of the Miss. 160 this year.) Mid March each year.
3. Fullerton Arboretuem Green Scene (70+ Southern California nurseries, garden clubs, and specialty growers selling at one time and place.) This plant sale is to gardeners like Disneyland is to kids. I mark this one on my calendar a year in advance. It is usually the 3rd weekend in April.
I am like a kid that can't wait for Christmas in anticipation of each of these. The LBCC Horticulture sale starts tomorrow! I won't be able to sleep in anticipation. I bring my favorite garden resource "Sunset Western Garden Book" and I check out any thing I am unfamiliar with and a wagon. I spend way too much money. I buy things and then have to find room for them afterwards. Ooops.
