Spring bulbs finally pushing through

I'm so happy to see some of my spring flowers starting to push their way up through the cold soil. Its so amazing to think that through this long, snowy, very cold winter that life was starting to grow. They just come up so fast one after the other. I know there are other things that have yet to emerge so i'll be waiting for those to come up. Got to be very careful where i step in the garden dont want to snap any growing tips off.
I just hope the squirrels all leave my spring bulbs alone especially the tulips that they are attracted to the most, I will be watching out for them.
Nothing worse then going to your garden finding what the squirrels or other pests have done , after looking forward to nice blooms by Spring.

Goodness... I know the feeling!

I planted daffodils last year and I just say the first one open today. Took a photo with my cell phone I was so excited!!!!!

vfem - I'm jealous! I do have crocuses (croci?) that have been blooming this week. And I can see the tops of tulips, daffodils, and anemone coming up.

My tulips have finished blooming and I will probably pull them out tomorrow. I've tried leaving them in the ground to multiply and come up next year but they don't. I've also left them till their tops brown and then pull them and store them. The only problems is that I forget where I put them. It's much easier to just buy a bag at Costco each year.

If it helps, I let mine turn brown, then clip the leaves after they've fallen over brown rather then pull. I leave the bulbs in the ground until Fall. In November I pull them up and separate them and move some of the new bulbs around. Try not to pull them up totally... if they have good drainage they should stay just fine in the ground until next year.

I have crocuses as well and some daffodils coming up but the stupid squirrels must have gotten my tulips. Every year I have less (which I know is supposed to be the other way around). Why do they only eat the tulips and hyciniths?

You're not alone HunkieDorie23 I have so many tulips and hyacinths that i planted, their is a spray you can make i believe with hot sauce and garlic, i'll post what it is. And this sprayed around the plants will keep them away, but i'm not sure if it will harm the squirrels.
I know squirrels will stay away from alliums, they dont find it appetizing. These flowers can get so big some like soccor ball size.
