@thistlebloom no, looking back I don't believe they did. I loved those horses, and yes I even loved the people who ran that stable, but my adult self looks at my memories and thinks, "Oh my god! What were they thinking?!"

Been a horse owner for 30 years. Glad you've been enlightened regarding stallions. I've only owned 7/35 mares over the years. THEY can be a handful, too, when they go into season. My current mare loves on me every 21 days, instead, and is quite the keeper. She is also 15'2hh, big barreled and can be ridden by anybody.
Just like the great overpopulation of dogs and cats with no prospective owners, there are way too many horses, and very few people able to keep them. My Vet lost 1/2 of her clientele since BO took over and sustained a depression these last 6 years, many clients who had to give up their dogs and cats bc they lost their homes.
Still, horse people continue to breed, thinking that this is necessary. (DON'T get me started.)
Miniature horses are only useful for driving. There are more geldings than any other horses bc our ancestors figured out that neutering a stallion makes him sane.

That's not truue @ducks4you, they are also great at pooping. When I move to my farm I plan to have a mini as a poop factory and for driving if I can find one that's already trained.

My first horse - sold to me by the guy who ran the riding stable I'd been working as a trail guide for years - was a weanling colt.
A male, baby horse and a 16yr old first time owner ..... BAD MIX. He should've known better - I quickly learned better.
