18 below zero, yesterday morning.

18 above zero, this morning.

The Fahrenheit scale will be 300 years old, soon ... still useful in Belize. Maybe the folks in Stanley could come up with a Stanley, Wild West scale for measuring temperatures!

Old Dan Fahrenheit used the freezing point of brine as 0°F. But, not just any brine! It's suspected that he came up with the zero temperature, then had to try various combinations of salts and water until he had something that would freeze at zero.

Up the scale, he made the wrong estimate of the average temperature of the human body ... but, anyway.

-18°F = -27.7778°C
18°F = -7.7778°C

Chilly, Big Piney!

Stanley & Big Piney, how would you like to meet Europe's highest community, Juf? Juf, Stanley ...

:) I like the webcams there at 6,000 feet and above the treeline :). I hope they update ... btw, the village was only inhabited during the summer until 1948 and this guy decided he didn't like moving twice a year ...

Too bad about Stanley! (I rather like that you keep checking as Stanley is my big brother's name.) The weather was pretty darned good here. I went out to take care of the chickens this morning and was at the coop before I realized I'd not taken my coat.

Comfortable working temps here.
