I sprayed at night, I thought that would be better - yes, the oil did stick to the leaves.lesa said:Hoping you sprayed in the morning...does the oil really stick to leaves?

Stinkbugs are bad mojo for maters. They will "bite" the young fruit and it will cause the maters to have a spotchy coloring (red, orange and yellow) when they ripen. Really, it doesn't effect the taste, to me....it just don't make for a purty mater. This has been my experience with them.Southern Gardener said:are taking over my garden. :/ I can't see where they've done any damage though - they especially love my tomato plants. I read that they tend to prefer fruit. Does anyone have any experience with stink bugs? Should I just leave them?
I've been lucky with my garden as far as pests go - I had a few green worms eating my beans but I just picked them off and squished them.
Yup, the ones I've recently picked are discolored, but still taste good. The oil and water spray may have helped as I didn't see as many bugs last night, but I have sticky plants. :/ My plants are starting to look very sad - yellow and droopy - not sure if it's because of the heat and/or the bugs.boggybranch said:Stinkbugs are bad mojo for maters. Watch out for bullseye shaped brown spots on those yellow leaves... fear the blight!Southern Gardener said:Yup, the ones I've recently picked are discolored, but still taste good. 97 is the high today with no rain in sight. The new flowers are shriveling and no new fruit on any plants. I may be done after the existing fruit ripens. So far I've picked 90 tomatoes.
Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to battle bugs, disease and extreme heat?vfem said:I was picking these off of my squash plants today, and I also found like 30 japanese beetles on my grapes now! ARGH!!!!!!
