I was given a lawn jockey by a family member. As a kid I remember it by their front door. I repainted it and put it at the end of my driveway. When I came home from work last night he was gone. Police kind of hinted it was my fault for havng so close to street.

Isn't that a shame?? Hard to figure out people... I have a garden spot way out by the road- it could really use some height, and I have thought of various things I could put out there. In the end, I have decided some fool would steal it- so it remains lacking... Sorry you had to experience that...

I once had a picnic table stolen out of my front yard! You never know what some jerk will steal.

I just get angry when the police act like it is your fault. Blame the victim? NO WAY.

If a person walks around with $100 bills hanging out of their pocket, does that make it OK to steal it? Of course not. I guess it is easier to yell at a nice person than chase down a bad person.

We live at the end of a dead end road in the middle of nowhere and somebody left a note on the front door the other day offering to buy a small horse statue from the porch. Kinda weird since only the us, the two neighbors, the paper carrier and the mail lady are the only people that come down the street on purpose. :idunno

Ya can't be too careful these days.

Why do some folks think it is alright to take things that do not belong to them. Seems like I remember about 10 years ago here there was someone stealing statues and yard ornaments out peoples yards. It even made the news they were taking so many. they were telling folks to take them in at night if you wanted to keep them. Some people I swear!

I live in a small community with very low crime rate. Well, I had a fountain on my front yard that had a "little boy" statute on it. That was stolen. It was so heavy it almost took 2 people to carry it. To this day, I'm always on the lookout to see if I see him. He's probably in somebody's back yard or maybe not even where I live.

I thought about replacing my small grass area out front with veggies. But I won't because I'm afraid those will be stolen also.

Maybe you could print up & post a sign saying something like "This property uses surveillance cameras"...it might make people think twice. (Or not...so many people have no morals & just don't care these days.) :/
