Don't you just love chickens? I got a chuckle out of that.

I assume they are molting. When they finish the molt they will probably start back up with that light. But be patient. It takes a while for them to change their internal plumbing from not-laying mode to laying mode. Just be consistent with that light. Don't go changing it dramatically. That can mess them up.

Some of my girls have molted and are sleek and gorgeously attired. Some now have that tattered homeless chicken living under the bridge look. The ducks lay like champs-2 every day! Have 18 hens, got 8 eggs from them today!

I have the impression that a tattered homeless chicken would soon be in a pot under the bridge having dinner with the other homeless gents.
