@thistlebloom are you ever doing something wrong! My husband and I worked out our meal arrangement in which he makes the coffee and breakfast, and I make the supper.

Here is your medal. It is for being such a wonderful wife to your husband. :love

Cream of Wheat -- make extra. Pour it into a mold (bowl) and refrigerate. For a snack, slice the solid Cream of Wheat, fry it well, and cover with maple syrup or use brown sugar and ice cream.

Before she went back to sleep, DW showed me that there was hot water on the stove for my tea and that she had made hot cereal.

She so often makes a combo whole grain cereal, and likes to keep several to choose from, I just assumed it was one of those. I went about preparing my fruit, putting a spoonful of brown sugar in my cereal bowl, and getting a big pat of butter. I knew I was taking some risk -- if it was Maltomeal, I'd want honey rather than that sugar.

Feeling every bit the daredevil, I noticed that green box of parmesan cheese when I reached in for the butter.

Well! I'm not crazy!!

What is under the lid on the stove? Cream of something-or-other! Blech!!!

Well, it was okay but I got to wondering. What would it have been like if I'd pulled out the parmesan ... yeah, and never considered a sweetener ... what could you do with this bland, nearly-tasteless cereal?

I feel for you gluten free people. Shoot! I coulda had a breakfast pizza. A little crumbled bacon! Learning something new can come in the most unexpected ways! Ya know?

Steve :)

Doesn't seem at all odd to me. I've been melting American Cheese in unsweetened oatmeal since I was a kid. That's NORMAL to me. As far as am concerned, oatmeal and the like are just runny forms of bread, as compatible with savory as sweet flavors. And we have never been sweet breakfast people in my family anyway.

Nowadays breakfast for me usually just consists of leftover of whatever dinner was, or if there are none scrambled eggs with cheese onions and pancetta (if we have any)

Finally an old favorite of mine for high energy (warning for the first few times you eat it, it has a tendency to clean you out)

1. Take cold leftover instant couscous and put it in a large bowl

2. Add a dash of decent quality olive oil and the juice of one to two key limes

3. Add a cup of chopped scallions

4. Add Italian seasoning and salt and pepper to taste.

5. Put in a dollop of Greek yogurt

6. Stir together

7. Eat
