Straw mulch..

I use a product named E Z Straw from Rhino Seed. The local Runnings Farm/Fleet carries it in the spring. A little spendy but after a bad "cheat grass" infestation caused by untreated wheat straw several years back I am now paying the price... in two ways!

Was it a good weed preventing mulch?

Yes it worked well with about a 2 inch layer. A few weeds came through but where easy to spot and pull. It uses guar gum for a natural tac to hold it in place. I pull the previous years aside in the spring, prepare the soil and reuse as much of the old straw as i can, mostly for the sides of my raised dirt beds. Moisture retention is the biggest concern in my garden.
