it isn't necessarily the stuff plastic is made of which makes me never want to use it for anything, it is the properties of the material as it gets older which makes it unsuitable, just doesn't last very long and shatters/crumbles. at least with other materials when they reach the end of their useful life they can be recycled/reused/repurposed.
