Problem is they have been spraying pesticides for years and no conventional farmer is going to just 'quit' doing it. Their soil is wrecked and they have no way to switch over to sustainable farming methods... plus, most don't want to. Why? Because its more work!

I don't think the american farmer is lazy, I just think they want the easiest quickiest most profitable way in the tradition of American; Quanity over Quality. That's how america buys their food products.... cheap and a lot of it!

So they will happily switch to any pesticide or GMO seed or High nitro fertilizer if there is a promise of MORE crops.

Its disappointing... but like anyone who cares about their bodies and their families they will buy organic or grow their own. Its an American right not acting upon like it once was.

(I still think we should rip out everyone's LAWN and have gardens that produce some amount of edible plants, it would cut back on what is in the markets and the farmers would begin to think about quality again.)

What's better than fresh strawberries or any produce for that matter, than from our own gardens. At least we can control how our food is being grown and not have to worry about those problems with chemicals in our food with some farms.
Last year i had a good crop of strawberries, got to love when the strawberry plants make runners, plenty more berries next year :D .

lesa,
Actually i just leave them alone, let them grow where they want to until at least the new plants get a little established before you move it. Then after the new plant is separated from the mother plant naturally, you could always transplant them in another area of the garden. But yes, wait until the mother plant has established the new plants first then replant if you wish.

Hope this helps! ;)
