i was all proud yesterday and planned to surprise Mom having the lawn mowed. she came home, no comment, didn't notice. a bit later i told her to come look, at that point i saw that i'd forgotten to mow a part of it. i still said "Happy Mother's Day!"

this morning i got the mower out and got that part trimmed but i had to change the oil in the mower first, so it all worked out in the end. very windy today. i'm not doing anything out there. dirt in the eyes/face just isn't my idea of fun unless i'm the one putting it there...

oh and as a safe way to get rid of oily bit of tissue paper after doing the oil change i put them in a metal can and then fold it shut enough that they won't fall out. at the recycling center it will get sorted out with the rest of the metal cans and sent for recycling at which point the oil and tissue paper will be incinerated. no fire risk here and besides it is way too windy for me to consider burning it, but i have in the past taken those bits of paper with oil on them and burned them myself because i sure don't want them sitting around here. also the jug of used motor oil i don't let get very full before taking it to the automechanic place as he'll put it in with all the other oil he has in his big drum.
