Cukes don't seem to do well in Southern California past late August. The weather is warm enough but our ocean influence encourages mildew at night. Mine are already showing signs of giving it up. That will give me a month or so to dig in some rabbit manure and let it mellow before my snap peas go in. Maybe I'll have to settle for snap peas on one side and the non shriveling peas for drying on the other. I've always wanted to try those but I never have room.
