Hello friends,

In my southern California garden I have growing tomatoes, watermelon, cantalope, cucumbers, onion, garlic, corn, potatoes, and peppers.

And I will be planting beans and basil.

I am looking for more things to grow that are warm season crops.

Any thoughts?

You know, I forgot to mention I have one zucchini planted, which should suffice.

Wildsky, I'll eat any veggie!

Just looking if I am missing some obvious crops that I am lacking, or some new unique things to try....

After showing off your beautiful iris and roses in JANUARY, you should be forced to look at some blank dirt ... :gig

Okay ... maybe pumpkins, peanuts ... or more herbs you might use.
Have you ever tried Malabar spinach?

I vote for beets! :D

I can't get enough of them myself!

This will be my first year growing eggplant. I'm not sure how much of it I will eat, but I thought it would be fun.

Oh, how about strawberries? Sooooo much better fresh than bought in the store!

Here in the deep south we grow a lot of peas and butterbeans. You would probably refer to them as cowpeas and limas.

The cowpeas are easy to grow and there are many varieties. The butterbeans are bush type or running type, also many varieties.

Then you have snap or string beans, both bush and running types.

We grow butterpeas, both bush and running types.

Have you thought about okra or sweet potatoes?

All of the running beans produce for us all summer and into the fall,if fertilized. These produce until frost kills them.

Peanuts are common here, also.I don't grow them often because they take so long to mature and tie up valuable garden space for a long time.

I hope this helps.
