One of our oldest son's friend and classmate tried to commit suicide last year by overdosing on prescription drugs. His father found him uncontious ,called 911and
had his stomach pumped out at the hospital. He survived and was doing much better. He had attended councelling for the past year and seemed to be adjusting quite well from his demons. Then, this past Thursday, he came home from school, then left his home and didn't come home for dinner. His parents started calling his friends and some classmates with no luck. One of his friends used a GPS signal to find his cell phone which he then followed to the banks of the DRY ( for 80 years ) San Juaquin River where he found this teenager hanging from a Cottonwood tree. His funeral will be this Tuesday. RIP

I think teenage boys are the most likely to commit suicide. Something about their emotional/hormonal/intellectual growth at this age. If we could only get them to see that there is so much more to life than the problems they are dealing with right now. "This too shall pass" is not just a clever remark.
Your family and theirs have my heartfelt sympathy.

So very sorry and sad to hear this, my deepest sympathy to both families. Unfortunately today's society has a lot to do with it. When I was growing up we were more prepared to deal with what life threw at us, also we didn't have all the cowards hiding their identity behind social media spewing their venom. I don't know what the answer is but I think it should start at a very early age instilling self worth in our youngsters, we're just going to have to try harder. Again my deepest sympathies.

My sympathies to you, your son, and to his friend's family. I find it hard to understand how so many young people today could feel so devastated that suicide seems a viable option.

My oldest granddaughter is struggling with something akin to bi-polar disorder and we fear for her mental stability at times. She lost a close friend to suicide last spring just as final tests at college were going on. Tough at anytime, but really hit hard on her grades as well as her spirit.

My wife talked to our dausghter last night. Grandson is holding up fine regarding the bad news. Granddaughter too ( a Sophomore at this High School ) A former male student that graduated last year also commited suicide Friday morning by overdosing on drugs. Right after lunch a junior female student slit her wrists, but several boys overpowered her and stopped the bleeding , then someone called 911 . She was rushed to a hospital and is doing fine. Daughter said she was puzzled and shocked at what is going on. :idunno
