Super cheap seeds!

I've done cheap seeds on low investment items like lettuice, flowers, etc that do not matter if they make it or not. But anything high investment, like tomato, beans, squashes, I spend the extra few bucks for seed I can trust. Our growing season is short and cool enough that getting a tomato plant that is anything but a cherry, or true ultra early/early season would mean no fruit. Heck, last year early girl did not give me ANY fruit despite planting inside 12 weeks early. Cherries barely produced anything! Not going to waste a whole season of plants, care, water and space for 75 cents. I tend to get some seed I can trust, and use that same packet for 2-3 years so it's not so bad.

Walmart has those seeds here for 20 cents. Apparently they are not made by the seed company called "American Seed" even though that's the name on the packet. I went to American's website and they had a big disclaimer at the top saying that they are not the manufacturer of the 10 and 20 cent packets.

I bought Dollar Tree crook neck squash last year and was surprised to hear my husband point out that 2 of the plants were growing zuchinis! My guess is that the seeds had been cross pollinated... But I was soooo happy because I had wanted zuchini too! The plants put out squash like crazy! Anyways, I had some grayzini planned for this year and when I was clearing out the garden... you probably can guess this... I had about 30 squash plant volunteers already grown 2 inches high I still have half the packet of squash left from last year and I'm starting to think I will never have to plant squash again... For more squash bang for your buck you can not beat Dollar tree.

I doubt you'll have to worry about summer squash for a while!

Silkiechicken is right though, I'd hate to put so much time and energy into a plant to find it does terribly. I will definately try the seeds but the majority of my tomatoes will be my tried and true seed company brands.
