Deeply Rooted
After not being able to work for 2 years and 11 months, I started a new job, yesterday was a week ago. I work at a local (as in, 1 mile, as the crow flies, from my house) grocery store. Tonight I got the "ok" to take ALL the throw-out produce to turn into compost. Woohoo...ya'll KNOW I'm in hog heaven.
Last week and this week, I'm scheduled for 25 hours. The manager I worked with tonight asked me if I would be willing to work more hours. DUH !!!! LOL He told me to tell the schedule manager to up my hours as per him. Having had a business for 35 years in Ashford (2 miles away), I know most of their customers by name. He said he needed me working more cause of my energy level, friendliness with all the customers, and the fact that I, ACTUALLY, love the work and WANTED to work. Looks like things are turning around. It only pays minimum wage ($7.25 hr)......but the tips are OFF THE CHART. Am averaging almost $15 hr....with tips. It pays to be personable and friendly with the customers.
Now I know, for some areas, $15 hr is not much....but remember, I'm in ALABAMA.
