Sweet peppers

Except for gypsies, no favorite. Ready for recommendations.

Any one grow what one publication calls "sweet pickle"? 2" long, looks like several hot ones but says sweet. Peppers look to grow upward.

Yes, prolific producer! And they make a pretty border! :D
We canned some, pickled, not a big fan, but the kids like them.
I like them on a salad, good, but not the most flavorful sweet pepper.

No favorite sweet pepper, I like green bell peppers better.

It seems to me that the flavor, texture and wall thickness of sweet peppers varies a lot with soil and growing conditions. My experience with peppers has been sketchy, most often not really producing very good ones. However, I am trying again this year, as I seem to use so many in cooking, and like to have them diced and frozen ready to throw into the skillet. And paying $1.79 for a red pepper in the middle of the winter just rubs me the wrong way.
I have had fair luck with Gypsy in years past, but haven't grown them lately. They are one of the more fool-proof varieties for me.
Does anyone have any tricks or hints to get great sweet peppers?

Seedcorn, is it a snacking pepper that you are aiming for?

I seem to run into some sort of "conflict" with DW over those. Maybe it is the size. I thought Gypsy was a great pepper. Sweet Banana are also wonderfully productive. I grew Yummy one year. She was all, ho-hum about all 3!

She likes the larger Italian Sweets and I am glad about that. Giant Marconi is a favorite.

I don't know growing tricks for peppers, So Lucky. What I am looking for is forgiveness. Yeah, forgiveness that I am pushing them out into 6 weeks of miserable spring weather.

Sweet peppers to me are anything but hot peppers-I'm easy there, jalapeño and poblano-so any banana or bell.

Gypsy peppers are extremely prolific and peppers are much larger than banana.
Tell me about Marconi peppers. Bought some 2 years ago, died.
The sweet pickle looks like it could be a great producer that I could take in house for winter? Curious if taste warrants the trouble.

Agree on hate to see price of bells in winter when for cooking could use frozen. Wife sees them in store, pretty, so they have to come home with her.

They are beautiful. May use the for that as well. Surprised how large they are.

I grow Healthy and Jimmy Nardellos for non-hots. They have time to color up for me, and they seem to be decent production wise.
Healthy variety sounds interesting. Looking for source of seeds online for sweet pickle
