Can you find certified seed potatos that time of year? Around here we can only get them in the Spring.
No, sure can't. Will have to plant grocery store taters.

Our taters were terrible this year (except for the Red Pontiacs). Hubby had to buy the Kennebecs and Yukon Golds from another source and when they came up, they grew very tall stems and the leaves all curled up (looked like alien plants). He pulled a couple of them up and took them to several farmers and the co-op to see what was wrong. They said it looked like they had had herbicide spray drift over them.

But, we bought 50 more lbs and planted in another garden altogether and the same thing happened. So now, we think it was something wrong with the potatoes. All except the pontiacs were from the other source. They did make potatoes, but only about 1/3 yield he was expecting. That's a big "ouch" since they are our money crop at the farmers' market.

:hide Sorry I high-jacked your thread.

I ordered mine from the Maine Potato Lady. I have been very pleased. The plants are huge. They are just done flowering, so I am getting ready to sneak a few fingerlings!

I'm watching for the results of your tater tower. If it works out well I may copy your design. It isn't patented is it? ;)
