My peas have gotten so heavy they ripped some of the U-nails out of the posts. Tomorrow will be a big pick and a freeze. I love peas. When they are done I will plant pole beans on the same trellis.
Out of the buckets and in the cooler on some gel ice: There are 6 pounds of snap peas on the left. First light picking but there won't be a lot this year - too few blooms.
A good hatful of snow peas on the right. First very light picking from another bed that was sown later. There won't be many of these either since the plants didn't make much size. Shell peas will be along but I didn't plant many.
Probably should measure both of the pea pod types by volume. You can get quite a bit more weight as they mature but, at some point, you may as well shell them since the pods will toughen. I like to pick them while I can still see right thru the pods when they are held up to the morning sunlight .
