Trying to learn about the Texas supersweet onion, and planting times. I believe it is a shortday which would be correct for my zone 7a. It can be planted from seeds or starts. I prefer seeds. Its also known as a 1015 onion.
I think the plant date is 10/15 in fall.
Maybe best results is fall planting, not sure?
Wondering if you could plant this same onion in the spring from seed?

Where are you located and what is the regular planting schedule? The 1015 onion is very good!
Zone 7a, usually plant around mid to late October with onion sets.
Not sure about onion starts.
Prefer seeds.
Also can the same seeds be planted in early spring with good results?

I never planted them from seed before. You might try it both ways and see what works best for you.
Ok then, are the 1015 onion sets for fall planting only or spring?

Looked at Dixondale's site. 10/15 is for planting the seeds. The onion plants they sell are for spring planting. They are listed as 115 days to maturity.
The three options is:
Onion seeds
Onion sets
Onion starts

I believe you're saying 10/15 is started from onion seed.
The spring plant is started from onion starts.

Thanks for the clarification! So it seems like the 1015 onion can be planted in the fall from seeds (around 10/15) and in the spring from onion starts. I'll keep that in mind for my zone 7a garden.
