Today's harvest:

2 big bunches green onions from overwintered sets
1 giant bunch poke sallet
1 large handful oyster mushrooms
You grow your own oyster mushrooms don't you? I have only found them around here in the fall. They are so good!

Yep. I bought a blue oyster mushroom kit from Fungi Perfecti in the winter, and it grew some mushrooms indoors for a while. Then when the weather warmed up a bit, the directions said I could break up the fungus stuff and mix it with wood chips, spread that in the garden. Did that in early April, still getting mushrooms. They did not get very blue, I guess you have to put them in a dark basement or something to get them properly blue.

I've thought so many times of ordering a mushrooms kit or spore. I really need to try that.

Last night we made salad of fresh buttercrunch lettuces - a chartreuse green (Divina ) and a red (Montpellier Red). Added Cherrybelle radishes and green onions from the garden and hot pepper rings and chickpeas from the homecanned canned stash. Then a couple, store bought things - craisins, black olives, grape tomatoes.

We also had grilled chicken from our own meat chickens. Yum!

We did notice many tiny grape tomatoes on our garden plants yesterday. So soon we'll have those for our salads.

Last night we ate fresh cauliflower, broccoli and yellow squash from the garden. And Applesauce from our trees we had canned in Fall.

Today I'm picking the very first of the wax beans. I can't wait to eat them this evening.

We had green beans and new potatoes that were especially wonderful. Going back to the garden to get more potatoes tonight. We try to work out there only when it is cool.
