We feed the birds... unintentionally. :p

The house sparrows love to eat the scratch that was originally thrown out for the eating birds (ducks, geese, chickens, etc.).
There are so many seeding plants out they're to keep them busy year round. The sunflowers got left out for the past two of years now, though. We kept having problems with mold, so they were rendered inedible to us. Plenty of carrion along the roads to keep the crows and turkey vultures busy too. ;)

Here is a very short list of what we see year round-

Crows
Turkey Vultures
Merlins
Chicken Hawks (a.k.a Cooper's)
the occasional American Kestrel
Cardinals
Blue Jays
Bluebirds
Nuthatchs of various kinds
Belted Kinfisher
Starlings
House Sparrows
Marsh Wrens...

And I could keep going but I will be merciful to the readers of this post - this time! :p

Out of them all my favorites would have to be the Crows and the Marsh Wrens. When walking through the swamp-marsh-forest type of thing that we have around here I will have a Marsh Wren occasionally pop up a few feet in front of me, only to have it disappear somewhere in the Skunk Cabbages and reappear next to a Buckeye tree further ahead.

The crows... don't ask me why. :hu
