It's going through our house, too. I recommend the Killer Chili Cure. All ingredient quantities are easily translated to "what I feel like throwing into the pot", or "what there is on hand".

2# hamburger meat
3 cans small red beans or kidney beans (the soup sized cans)
2 cans diced tomatoes with chilis or 2 cans diced tomatoes and a can of diced chilis (jalepanos if you like it hotter)
(of course you can put in your wonderful homegrown tomatoes if you still have some, instead of the canned stuff)
a can of tomato sauce if you like your chili a little "brothy"
a couple yellow onions
a couple teaspoons of diced garlic, or garlic powder will do
a teaspoon or two of chili sauce if you have it on hand (really helps with the sore throat!)
a few tablespoons of chili powder (to taste) or a couple of chili seasoning packets

Start cooking the hamburger and break it up into small pieces as you go. Chop the onion into the skillet and toss in the garlic. Let everything cook together until the meat is browned. Drain off excess fat. Add the canned stuff and seasonings, simmer 'til you're starving. Serve with warm sourdough bread.

There's loads of good nutrition in a decent bowl of chili, and the spiciness helps open up the nose and throat. The difference between this chili and regular chili is that you should make it a little hotter and spicier than usual.

In case anyone wants to play with this tombstone generator...especially since Halloween is coming!

http://www.jjchandler.com/tombstone/download.php

click on the tombstone, enter your words, then when it generates you 'right click' to save as a file to use. On the selector below the tombstone you can create your own street signs or warning signs and labels. Too fun!
