Of those, and besides those Benewah, I may have grown the Mr. Stripey. Collector, the reason I say "may" is because there are 2 Mr Stripeys.

One is a beefsteak and from Appalachia, I believe. The other is one the Canadians and British call "Tigerella." I think we'd be better off following them rather than having 2 with the same name.

I 've grown Tigerella. It is real early and a juicy little tomato. Pretty.

Good to know about your experiences with Sand Hill. It is a good reason to be on a gardening forum, there are so many sources, so many varieties . . .

The Mr Stripey that is a beefsteak--I have grown that and not gotten a single edible tomato off them. I heard people rave about them. I still don't know what they are talking about.

Thanks for the info about these tomatoes. The Mr. stripey and cherokee purples we are starting for an older lady that my DW caretakes for she told us to start some for ourselves, but i think that we have enough of the others to try this year. We will see if any of these will come close to replacing the early girls in our garden :fl!

well, i did it again and went overboard with the varieties i chose to grow this year. i'm still going to grow the Linnie's Oxheart, i saved seeds from a paste tomato last year that has been growing wild in my garden (forgot if it is a Roma or something else), Juliet grape, Oregon Spring, Marglobe Supreme, Sub Arctic Plenty, and one that was miss-marked from the grower as a Bianca Rosa Eggplant. it did well for me last year-gave me large beefsteak type tomatoes.

these are my new additions:
Korol Sibiri, Hillbilly, Eagle's Beak Oxheart, Pink Boar, Giant Bear Claw, Egg Yoke, Purple Calabash, Pomodoro Pero Gigante, Red Zebra, Yellow Zebra, Beauty King, Beauty Queen, Violet Jasper, Ukrainian Hearts. i may have missed a couple but i know i was up to 27 different types i wanted to grow this year.

Finally getting around to posting my tomato attempts for 2014.

You have 2 new-to-me's, Red.

I'm hoping the Isis Candy lives up to its name. The hybrid cherries set a pretty high bar and here I am venturing into the heirlooms again.

There are several Heinz heirlooms. I got the #2563. It is a determinate but they all are, I'd bet. This one seems to be the most popular. I'm just not a paste tomato grower but need to find out if I should be.

Am I gonna be disappointed with these 2?
