I tend to see the proverbial glass as full, usually. Half water, half air, which is useful in its own right.

Speaking of adversity, have you read Unbroken?
Louis Zamperini certainly had more than nearly anybody I have ever heard of, lived through it, then turned his life into a blessing to others.
It's a edge of your seat kind of story, and so humbling to read.

The library has a 3D printer for client use.

I've just come up with my concept! Print digitS' into 6 figures!!!
