Just curious about what was above the cutting board. Wikipedia: "The countertop microwave oven was first introduced in 1967 by the Amana Corporation ..."

Oh boy, the 70's! Some people were still having some residual flashbacks from all that stuff they didn't swallow or inhale while watching The Jetsons.

I kind of like the color though.

I don't know, Thistle'. We were sending men to the moon in 1972.

This, from 2015, doesn't look like it's much more advanced. I found it while looking at kitchen pods.

Spin

it :D.

I can't remember what kitchen stove I had in 1972. I moved and rented out my house that year. I remember I couldn't leave my electric range for the renter. I visited and learned that she was cooking on a hotplate sitting on a coffee table.

I can't decide if I like the old fashioned farm kitchen or the modern sleek chrome look.
How do you keep a kitchen floor clean, anyway? Do you all take your shoes off when you come inside?
We don't. My step son and his wife really want everyone to take their shoes off at their house. They are germophobes. I would take mine off, but they keep their house about 60 degrees, and my feet are cold even IN my shoes.

Well, as you know from my interest in a remodel, my kitchen floor would benefit from being replaced, @so lucky . What really gripes me is that the bathroom floor that was replaced four years ago, should be included in that!

I'm not 100% about taking my shoes off outdoors. And, before I go somewhere during the winter, you may find the shoes I'll wear on a piece of newspaper at the nearest heat register, indoors :).

Still, taking off shoes was something I was doing long before the current DW came along and she would all but insist on it if'n I was to try to change. It's much easier to keep the floors clean.

Our floors are ceramic tile and this past summer I broke down and bought one of those spiffy floor steam cleaners. Works good and it's fast and also convenient enough that I'll do it more frequently than dragging a bucket of hot water and a mop around. I'm definitely not a germophobe, but usually do kick my shoes off on a mat by the door. Insert image of chicken poo here...

My kids are well trained and do that too, but dh is not a tame husband and can barely be trained to at least attempt to wipe his boots before coming in, or even pretend to for pitys sake.
But they aren't as easy to remove as my usual run outside shoes, so I don't blame him. How can I anyway? I let Wren and the Freight Train in to visit and he's got more status around here than a dog. So far that is. :D

We had some friends who kept a basket of socks by the door for guests, and insisted that you remove your shoes and put the socks on. Apparently there are enough oils on a bare foot to damage carpets.
BUT they had a very large hairy dog (Bouvier ) who was allowed to come inside and outside as she pleased, and I never saw her wipe her feet...and at the time they didn't even have a lawn out back so she was pretty dirty.

It took me years to teach nephew, what the outside mat in front of all doors was for. I once dragged him out of bed at 2am and made him wash kitchen door. He lived with me a very short time.

Funny, Nyboy. I imagine it was a short a time as he could manage. Wiping feet! Whatever for? Until cleaning the floor put it all into focus.

Sigh. DH has never removed his shoes when coming in the house. Mine and the Grands shoes are vying for first place in getting closest to the exits. But then I spent as much time as possible my first 25 years running barefoot. From the looks of DH's feet -- not so much.
