I have a great resource for mulch/dirt/chunks of trees/ect.

I got a load today, when I have work near there I load the mud mixing tub and the old pitch fork on the truck.

I wish I did not forget my cam. my truck backed up to this pile makes my truck look like a matchbox car.

This is what it looks like before it goes through the MMM3000.

A retired rain collection unit.

The lid cut open but in such a way as to not make it to weak.

The first screening goes though chicken wire cut in a circle to fit in the lid. Any size wire can be cut and just laid in the "flipped lid"

Now you just wiggle it.

Just a little bit!

And this what I get.

The waste part gets to be mulch. I use all the big sticks to make paths so my big footed friend don't stomp my little seedlings to death.
I can't blame him he is so tall there is no way he can see way down there.

I will finish off the MMM3000 with holes for air and of course a fine paint job.

I will cover this and let it cook. I think a full bucket would heat up pretty good.

So what do you think?

Excellent Job,

So tell me, you fill this and you water it to moisten, then how do you roll it without spilling it? Or does this heat-up just like that in small batches?

Have you timed it from the Municipal mulch to the compost you are showing in the pics?

Have you been adding any green material to get it cooking?

Ron

ps, the RedneckMaid is quite catchy...did you come up with that yourself LOL  I am half imagining an outfit to go with that title..perhaps with a big feather duster but with the chicken still attached LOL BAWWWWK!

My idea is just to get the sifted part to cook a bit to kill weed seed and such. I will move it a few times back and forth between two of these. My idea is to be able to convert mulch that people snicker at
into a few different products. The first will be rough with a lot of twigs and such but that will help air flow.

About two hours, thats making the set up taking tons of pictures.

This project started this morning, there is a lot of leaf matter and dirt in this pile! I do need to get a picture of it! It also comes with plastic bottle parts, plastic edging chunks, you name it!

Update on the MMM3000.
I have a lot of potting up to do so it is time to put this soil to use.

First I screened the bucket full again, this time I used 1/2" hardware cloth. After that I nuked it for about 6 minutes a bucket.
This is what I ended up with.

100_8176.jpg

This is the nice mulch that I got from it. It ended up to be about a five gallon bucket full from the 30 gallon trash can.

100_8180.jpg

A scoop of Perlite.

100_8181.jpg

A 5 gallon nursery pot of chicken coop compost, nuked for 6 minutes flipped it into another pot and nuked for another 5 minuted.

100_8183.jpg

I added a 5 gallon paint bucket of MMM3000 soil , a nursery pot full of chicken compost, and a nursery pot full of commercial potting soil with 9 month time release fert. along with that scoop of perlite in my cement mixer.

This is what came out.
I need to adjust it a little, a little to sandy. Sandy is good because my soil here is sand! So any plants that will go in the ground needs to be accustomed to living in sand.

100_8192.jpg

Well what do you think? I can make about 45 gallons of soil for near nothing!
