I have the same green bamboo poles in my garden. Why do they paint them? It gets all over my hands when I touch them and it comes off over time. A complete waste of money and resources. The eggplant looks awesome. Mine are much smaller. I just planted them yesterday.

The poles are not painted, they are vinyl and are adjustable to twice their length. They are part of the plant support system I received from a company as a sample:

Really that is too cool. Mine are bamboo that they painted green. I would have purchase them if there were unpainted and now they make a mess until the green comes off.

We are expecting frost in the next few days, so this is the last hurrah for Theresa's garden planter. There was only one eggplant in it, but it did a great job! The plant is so large that I had to tie it to the deck railings to support it. We have lost count of the eggplant that we picked from this one plant. The only problem we had was with squirrels taking a bite out of several of the fruit to see if they liked them. The planter is certainly worth having.
