LOL! That's so funny because my sister made "cutesy" labels and all - I could care less! After a day like that I wasn't about to make labels!

I label mine....but yes, only on the lids. I make nice printed labels for the ones we sell, but handwritten 'quickie' labels for us.

Agreed - set-up/prep is king in the kitchen when canning. Having everything out & ready makes a lot of difference. Having staging areas for finished jars to cool, etc also helps. I even prep labels in advance where possible.

I just put a batch of 9 jars Cherry/Apple Jelly in the canner. (This thread reminded me the juice was in the fridge and needed finished. Thanks!) As soon as it's done, it's time for my morning garden walk and to pick wax beans.

You learned a lot this time around, SG, good for you!

I also will never stick anything on the jars but I put stickers on the lids for our use and if I want to get fancy for gifts or sellling then I punch a hole in a cute handmade tag and tie it to the jar with some twine.
I only can one type of thing each time, it gets too confusing and messy to have more than one thing going at a time.
I just finished bottling some honey I took from the hives yesterday and that was a sticky mess to clean, especially since I let the kids help with it.
I actually used the tag and twine method for those jars and they came out cute. I have nice labels for them but I like to save them for the ones that I sell rather than the ones I am giving away.
The tags are more time consuming to do and since I am just giving them to the neighbors and a couple of friends its not that many to do.
I'll use the sticky labels for when I have to do alot of jars, which from the looks of the hives yesterday won't be too far off.
I am already loving the weather this year, so much nicer than all that rain last year.

The pepper jelly sounds great. I buy some once in a while and pour it over a block of cream cheese and serve it with crackers.
Its a great little snack but I haven't had it in a while, maybe its time to learn to make my own.
I have to gear up for canning soon, I am almost out of the jam I made last summer.
