Hi All!

New member here, but long time reader of this forum :)

I was looking for a fathers day gift and I think I may have found it? It's the muletto wheelbarrow/garden cart. Has anyone heard of this new product or own one?

I saw this in my local Lowe's hardware(Canada) store last month. It was setup right as you walk in with a little TV playing a video of all its uses. Its called the muletto multifunction garden cart/wheelbarrow.
I thought to myself wow this is quite useful! and at $149 it wasn't too bad..

This week I got a Lowe's flyer and there it was again.. but this time "The Muletto $119" limited time fathers day special or something?

I'm thinking now that for just over 100 bucks it seems a pretty good deal considering all of the things it can supposedly do...

I researched a bit online and found that its also selling in the USA on HSN shopping channel. They have quite a bit of information / photos and I watched a video of one of their live shows about it.
link: http://www.hsn.com/home-solutions/muletto-multifunction-7-in-1-wheelbarrow_p-6592814_xp.aspx

The reviews are decent and I read one person saying something like this is the best thing since sliced bread! (lol I found this funny)

Anyway so the question here is..

It says it does like 7 functions, etc... But does it perform and or worth the money?

Does anyone have one of these? Whats your opinion?

I kind of feel like it could be all that its cracked up to be, but I would just like some reassurance before purchasing it.

Thanks
Annie

Welcome to the forums, AnnieK :frow!

I don't have one of those but just want to say that I get quite a bit of mileage out of both my wheelbarrow AND my handtruck. I'm always moving stuff out of the pickup with the handtruck and find it a much better idea than carrying it. If I put it in the wheelbarrow (whatever it is), I still have to lift it out at some point. The handtruck saves my back . . .

Of course, I get some work out of the wheelbarrow, also. But, that's to be expected for someone who sometimes works around the yard & garden. Your idea is to give a tool that combines the two .

Steve,

Thanks for your input and thats exactly what I was thinking. Instead of lugging things in the wheelbarrow (well, lifting it up and in). A hand truck would be great in those cases. This product seems to solve that by having a flap built in ready to be used whenever you are?
I'm not too sure how you hook up rocks and flower pots as it mentions, but that also seems like a huge back saver!

catjac1975, so I'm guessing by your 'wow' that you agree that the product is worth purchasing? :D

I always get wow'd by new products. But I'm a product review person myself, I like reading what real people who own it think first. So good call asking for real reviews! Does Lowe's have it listed on their website with the option for customers to review it? I like the read those when ever I can. It looks pretty cool, but I have don't have anything I can comment on since I don't have one. Good luck, I think that is a way awesome gift for any garden guru!

Personally, I'm not a big fan of "multifunction" tools. Always seems that I need more than one of the functions on a single job, and am constantly switching from one to the other. Yet another reason is that if it breaks you're without all of those tools. Yet a third reason is that tools like that never seem to do anything as well as a single purpose tool.

Also seems a bit pricey to me. For the same money you can probably buy a good large wheelbarrow and a hand truck.

While I don't put great faith in reviews on the seller website I did find this one telling:
DON"T waste your money... CUDALADY, TX Rating 5/30/2012
Great idea and concept. Too small and falls apart new. Handle bars cushion ripped off the first time I used it and was ripped on 1 handle new. Its about 1/3 the size of a small wheel barrow and the wheels are already going flat. Not even close to worth the money.
When linked with this one:
HSN Rocks!... Shashopper61, MI Rating 6/10/2012
This was delivered quickly and I quickly assembled to discover a defective tire.Contacted HSN and they said to ship it back free. But I am older and sickly and can't get the big package back to UPS.So was offered a small refund to have the tire repaired locally. No one can repair so I contacted the manufacturer and they are supplying a new tire.Has not arrived yet but when it does I will review again. The cart looks sturdy with many uses.
And that's from someone who believes "HSN Rocks!"

In the quality assurance game, problems like the ones related above are called, "ELF's" Early Life Failures. Never a good sign.

Therefore I vote no! :(

oh wow so many replies already! Great :)

vfem,

Yes good point about searching for reviews, although I could not find it on the Lowe's website I did find quite a bit on HSN website.
Which is something OldGuy43 touched upon below.

OldGuy43,

Good point about the multifunction and if one breaks you loose them all. I will definitely consider that, however I'm just not sure what can break on here which will jeopardize the other functions? Yes I read the review about a faulty tire, but I guess that can happen.. or at least with my experience with my own wheelbarrow I have to pump up the big tire at least 3 times a season.
Anyway there are 23 reviews and majority are more then positive. 4.1/5 stars is a pretty good rating for a product in my books.

I'm just excited about this(and running out of time for the weekend lol!) Plus with this special at Lowe's I think its worth a shot :)

catjac1975,

We all seem to have too many 'toys' hehe
