Hi Jen, I'm in the high desert in CA and it's spring here but as usual when it's warm enough to garden we get the wind. It just sucks the life out of new plants unless you cover them. My tomatoes are under pots that I cut the bottoms off and cover the plants with. They really work nice but I have to put a brick across them to keep the wind from blowing the pots away. We have green peas, onions and potatoes up and six tomatoes planted. Fruit trees have finished blooming and the grapes have leaves. Daffodils are finished also. I have roses in bud and some of my bearded iris. It won't be long before you'll be able to plant also. When I lived in NC we didn't plant until the dogwoods bloomed.
